THE FRANCISCAN FRAIRS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ARE COMING FOR A HEALING MASS
As part of our continuing Adult Faith Formation and Spirituality, we are happy to announce and invite you to a special Healing Mass which will be presided over by the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Spirit here at our parish St. Andrew the Apostle on Friday September 10 beginning at 6pm. This is an event which your whole family is welcome to attend.
Just still recovering from this deadly pandemic, we believe that everyone of us is wounded in some way or other, both physically, emotionally, and spiritually and therefore, we are all in need of healing. Therefore, this is really a special opportunity for us all to come and give everything we carry, everything we grieve and worry about, over to the Lord’s healing heart. He is there waiting to heal us. So please, mark your calendars and make sure to attend this very special evening which will be devoted to encountering His healing love in the Eucharist.
The evening will begin with about 30 minutes of praise and worship before entering directly into the Mass which will be offered for the healing of the congregation. Be ready to be healed by the Lord! Confession will also be available before the Mass begins and there will be several priests as well.
Following Mass, the Eucharist will be exposed, and a friar will lead everyone in a healing meditation, followed by a Eucharistic procession within the Church so that you can experience the Lord drawing near to you as you remain in your seats. For those of you who have not experienced this before, this can be a very moving experience.
We look forward to joining you here at St. Andrew on Friday September 10 at 6pm. Do not let anything of a lesser priority get in the way of being set-free.
And, as we continue to deepen our love and devotion to the Eucharist, we will also continue to offer the monthly Eucharistic Adoration on First Fridays and Saturdays concluding with Jammies and Jesus on Friday and benediction before the vigil Mass on Saturday. The exception will be the month of September. Since we introduced the Jammies and Jesus adorations and rosaries for our children and their families, we have been amazed by how our kids are getting drawn ever closer to the Eucharist. Despite their typical children “noisiness” while in front of the blessed sacrament, it is clear that they understand they are nevertheless, in front of an extraordinary presence. Recently, I have had my own frequent little fights with some of the very little kids demanding to receive the Eucharist as they came forth with their parents. To me that is a great problem to have as it gives us the opportunity to continue nurturing this desire in these kids with the hope that they will grow into eucharistic pillars and adults in the future.
Finally, I want to assure you that a lot of good things are happening here in our parish, and we will continue to inform you about them as major events come closer. In the meantime, I invite you to look forward to a summary of my State of the Parish which I will deliver at all Masses next weekend. God bless you all most abundantly and know that I love you!
