Continuing on in this Lenten Season
Greetings to you once again. Father Robert has asked if I would write today for him as he is resting from his recent hospital visit. Please join me in offering a prayer for our Pastor; Heavenly Father, you who make the lame walk and the sick regain their health, we ask you to hear our prayers of intercession on behalf of our Pastor, Fr Robert. Strengthen his body, fill Him with abundant grace, and magnify the benefits of any suffering. You to whom, “nothing is impossible” we implore you, oh Divine Physician, return him to us as our shepherd at St Andrew the Apostle. Amen.
What a mission! I hope by now many of you have had the chance to listen and ponder the words of our mission speaker, Jesse Romero. He has given us permission to leave the talks on our St Andrew facebook page. Take advantage of this. Listen again, and share them.
There is an epic spiritual battle between good and evil. We choose good or evil by our actions and decisions every day. Not choosing is choosing. In spiritual matters, one must make a choice than live by that choice. There is a force that never rests, takes a coffee break, or goes on vacation. Satan is bent on our destruction. Those who pretend the devil does not exist, or is a myth to scare us are ignorant of the of Holy Scripture and Christ Jesus, who Himself was tempted by Satan.
Prayer is powerful to those who are in a state of grace. In fact the efficacy of our prayers is dependent on our own personal holiness. I personally have benefited from the holiness of our St Andrew’s parishioners and their prayers on my behalf so many times. Jesse goes into greater detail of the types of prayers and shares some amazing answered prayers.
Heaven is our goal, so what steps are recommended to help us on the path to eternal happiness? Jesse outlines some great suggestions for us to follow, as well as ways to avoid temptation and evil.
God has provided for us many simple steps for our success, but only we can choose to take them. Life will be over in a blink when we least expect it. With Holy week a few days away why not commit from today forward to take the first of many steps that lead to eternal happiness. In the immortal words of our dear Mother Mary, “Let it be done according to your Word!” Lord make me a saint…nothing more matters.
See below for the Holy Week schedule. Respect life is leading the stations tomorrow and Good Friday Stations are self-lead in the Church. You can still access the pre-recorded meditations at www.stdrw.cc/stations
