Continuing on this Lenten Journey
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” It is easy to gloss over this opening line of our second reading from St. Paul to the Romans. Yet, if we take it into our hearts, believe it in our minds, and live with this conviction, we become living witnesses that God is trust-worthy.
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” Close your eyes and repeat that to yourself with certitude. Can we believe what St. Paul suggests in this bold statement? Unequivocally, yes!
I for one want to be on Team God. Why? Everything we have heard in Scripture our entire lives, everything the Catholic Church hands on from its founder Jesus Christ, everything echoed through the ages from saints and mystics reminds us that God is for us. He calls us by name, redeemed us, and left us His Body and Blood in the Eucharist. He is present in the Sacraments. It is He who forgives us in confession through the action of the priest freeing us from the shackles of sin.
There is no one in your life more for you than God. One of the ways that you can take advantage of being on Team God, is to attend the “Adoration Bursts” being offered this Lent at St. Andrew.
Adoration what….? An “Adoration burst” is the name I have given to special 1-hour adoration and confession opportunities in addition to Wednesday adoration. It gives us additional short bursts to be in the presence of the Son, whose light bursts upon us in love.
Thursday, March 4th, and Monday, March 15th starting at 7pm. Plan on attending. Each will be a little different and ready us to walk to Calvary alongside Jesus.
Let the Lord shine His healing love in the confessional and sit in His Presence in adoration. It is a great way to enhance your spiritual journey, ready your heart, mind, and soul and draw nearer to the Lord. “The real strides in our spiritual life require insight and action.” (Toups)
Each time we fight the temptation to place other activities before God, each time we say yes to what He wants to do in our lives and souls; we stretch our spiritual muscles and open our hearts wider to Love Itself.
New this year are Drive-Thru Stations on March 5th and 12th. You may have caught a glimpse on Ash Wednesday of beautiful work done by our kids under the leadership of Julie Dworaczak, aided by our wonderful Knights. They will be available all day to pray the stations, complete with pre-recorded reflections. It has been a collaborative effort between several of our ministries with the help of Fr. Teilo’s crazy cool audio skills. Thanks to everyone who made this possible.
